Elennsar's of the world.
So this is pretty much just a thread to decry Shadzar as equally as hopeless, if not more so, than Elennsar.
I would encourage every person to not give him the benefit of the doubt, and to just ignore him the third or fourth time he proves himself to be irredeemably stupid.
Suggest other additions to the list if you want. But I'd say we've fed this troll enough, and he's proven that we can't even argue with him because he will seriously whine about things totally unrelated to what you actually say.
Seriously encourage ignorage.

Dude, this is what we added an ignore feature for. Just add the folks you don't feel you can reason / argue / agree to disagree with to your ignore list and move on.
Starting a thread like this really just seems like inviting folks to make personal attacks on each other - and that's probably a bad idea.

"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

Well, the point is to encourage other people to use the ignore feature when it is appropriate.Josh_Kablack wrote:Dude, this is what we added an ignore feature for. Just add the folks you don't feel you can reason / argue / agree to disagree with to your ignore list and move on.

Generally speaking, most people here are reluctant to ignore someone. I know I am. As such, I am encouraging them to seriously consider the worth of actually dealing with this idiot.
Elennsar hit 3000 posts before Anarco-Communism finally mostly drove him into irrelevance. A polemical voice could perhaps speed up the process by enough to get this done around 1000.
If you genuinely think he has anything at all to add to any thread, don't add him. But if the only reason that you keep arguing is to argue, well, he isn't even responding logically to what you write, I'll come up with bullshit positions but actually use logic to defend them if you want to argue that bad.
EDIT: That too Frank. Seriously, fucking double posts are barely acceptable, fucking seven and you just need to die.

1. Why are you still reading a thread that you know is mainly a "trolling asshole" you've already ignored repeating the same nonsense? I mean, wouldn't your time would be better spent polishing aWoD, starting Black Forest, arguing Fantastic role protection, calling my stubborn rejection of Boolean's modifications to the HERO auction system foolish or even just posting pics of scantily clad celeb babes in the Count's self-hatred thread.Yeah, but when a trolling asshole posts seven fucking posts in a roll, it fills up the screen even if you do have them on ignore.
2. That's when you should consider using the report button or otherwise calling moderator attention to the board.

I think the secret is just being quicker to /ignore.
I was terrified of it for the longest time, thought it was horribly rude and that it would entirely delete the posts, making life confusing. It's surprisingly user-friendly, in many cases I know enough about ignored posts from context, and it's easy to read an ignored post if you decide someone just might be contributing to a thread, say because others are responding to them as though they had a point.
Elennsar drove me to /ignore, but with each successive ignoring I get more trigger-happy.

IMO half the point of TGD is to talk to people I think are jerks and push past reactionary pre judgment to evaluate their posts' content on their own merits.
Rather than ignoring people try not replying to someone who is repeating the same trivially untrue thing over and over. That'd have a similar effect without going all the way to ignore.

I find that thread amusing.
Shure there is no point in arguing with him, but I find his inability to understand (or is ability to claim to not understand) fascinating.
The endurance of the other posters to try again and again to explain anything (like 2+2=4) to him is

Did he leave on his own? I remember running into him at BG a year ago, and he eventually quit posting there (I don't know if he was banned or just left), then he seemed to start posting here at a similar time.Kaelik wrote:Elennsar hit 3000 posts before Anarco-Communism finally mostly drove him into irrelevance. I'm just curious because in both places, he seemed to build up a rediculous post count and then simply drop off the face of the planet. I don't remember any "HURR DURR, THIS PLACE SUCKS! I'M LEAVING!" posts.

I didn't know we could ignore people.
Not that I would since it's very hard to make me RAEG. The most I ever do that is with Frank Trollman's posts and some others and they're never aimed at me. I just tend to get unsettled by the vehemence some of you can muster.

Both places.
But by the end I know he was ignored by myself/Frank/uber.
I think he was ignored by like 70% of the weekly or more posters. So critical mass. Just based on the number of people who state that Elennsar was the first time they ever had to use ignore.

This thread is a personal attack and is lowering the Den's signal to noise ratio. Get it the fuck out of the place.

Right because no one ever made a thread about how bad Elennsar was...CatharzGodfoot wrote:This thread is a personal attack and is lowering the Den's signal to noise ratio. Get it the fuck out of the place.
I mean, At least no one named CarthazGodfoot...

The point of the conversation is more to study human nature as to how someone can be so impenetrable to reason. Now the most obvious explanation is that you're just dealing with a troll, but if that's not the case, it makes you wonder what drives a poster to be like that.
Is it just pure competitiveness where they're reluctant to concede a point and lose? Is it some kind of defect in their brains that makes them unable to comprehend basic logic?
Shadzar seems to exhibit the behavior pattern of a religious fanatic. He does things a certain way because they were always done that way and to question the old ways is blasphemy and something not to be tolerated. It is the way it is because the holy texts say so. Any rational argument against the word of the holy text, even something ultimately minor, gets translated to a personal attack on his beliefs and a personal attack on himself. Evidence and rational conclusions are hand waved away, or outright ignored, similar to how a diehard creationist would dismiss the existence of dinosaur bones as being some trick that God put there.
This rigid mindset becomes especially fascinating when applied to a hobby that encourages free thought and creativity.
